SUBJECT
RECOMMENDATION
Approve the attached contract relating to the Land & Water Conservation Fund grant that has been awarded to the City for Phase 1 of the Island View Park Renovation Project.
BACKGROUND
The City was informed last year that the Utah Division of Parks and Recreation was recommending the National Park Service (NPS) award this federal grant for Island View Park Renovation Phase 1. The NPS has entered into a contract with the State to provide this funding. Therefore, in order to complete the grant award process, the City needs to enter into a contract with the State.
As shown in the attachment, the grant amount of $677,000 must be matched by $677,000 from local funds, providing for a total project cost (Phase 1) of $1,354,000. The State keeps $64,476 of the grant amount for administration, leaving $612,524 for the City to use along with its own funds. The $677,000 match from City funds was included in the attachment, "Cash Flow Analysis for Park Improvements Funding", reviewed earlier with the City Council.
The concept plan for the Island View Park Renovation Project is attached, along with the landscape architect's cost estimate for Phase 1. The City Council reviewed these documents last year before the City formally applied for this grant for Phase 1.
